VIDEOS (with commentary)
  1. ADVENTURES IN VIDEO ASTRONOMY.  This is about 45 minutes long with black and white images, but there is no narration, which makes it hard to follow.
  2. THE ASTRONOMERS.  This is an excellent PBS series.  There are 6 episodes, but unfortunately, I believe this tape only contains 4.  It covers topics such as black holes and cosmology at an introductory level.  It also takes an interesting look at the daily lives of professional astronomers.
  3. ASTRONOMY CLUB TAPE #1.  This appears to be about the possibility of life on other planets.
  4. ASTRONOMY CLUB TAPE #2.  This is a collection of old NASA films, mostly about missions to the planets.
  5. ASTROPHOTOGRAPHY WITH SCT.  This is a how-to guide for those interested in learning how to do astrophotography.  It is about 30 minutes long.
  6. BASIC SCT OPERATIONS.
  7. COSMOS PART 5.  This series with Carl Sagan is an absolute classic.  There are 13 parts.  I wish we had the entire series.
  8. FROM HERE TO INFINITY
  9. THE EAGLE HAS LANDED.  This documents the flight of Apollo 11, the first expedition to land a man on the moon.  Pretty well done.  It is about 30 minutes long.
  10. THE INFINITY SERIES PART 1, THE SOLAR SYSTEM.  The poor quality of this tape makes it difficult to watch.
  11. INTRODUCTION TO MICROSOFT FOR WINDOWS.  This has nothing to do with astronomy.  I don't know why we have it.
  12. LANDING ON MARS.  This is a good review of the Viking missions to Mars and gives some history of the exploration of the planet.  It lasts about 30 minutes.
  13. MESSIER OBJECTS, PART 2.  This is a visual catalog of the messier objects with pictures of each.  The tape quality is only fair:  all the objects appear green.
  14. PRACTICAL ASTRONOMY AND CELESTIAL NAVIGATION.  This is a decent general survey of astronomical concepts.
  15. THE REAL E.T.  A look at the search for extraterrestrial life and man's exploration into space.
  16. THE RETURN OF HALEY'S COMET.  A primer to get people ready for the comet's 1986 flyby of earth.  About 30 minutes long.
